Waaaa! A new Super Mario Galaxy Movie leak has spoiled a major character reveal — and it's another of the Nintendo mascot's popular foes

Executives at Nintendo and Universal Pictures might be shouting “Waaaa!” today after a major character’s appearance in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie (TSMGM) seemingly leaked online. 🎬🍄

The animated sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie is scheduled to arrive in theaters on April 1, 2026, meaning its release is just over a month away. However, one of the film’s biggest surprises appears to have been revealed earlier than planned.

Wario reportedly confirmed

According to the website of UK theater chain Everyman Cinema, the movie’s plot description includes none other than Wario, one of Mario’s longtime rivals.

The description claims that Mario and his allies will face “Wario and Bowser Jr.’s evil alliance”, suggesting that Wario will play an important role in the film’s main storyline.

Bowser Jr. already confirmed

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about Bowser Jr. appearing in the sequel. His role as one of the movie’s main antagonists was previously revealed in the official trailer, alongside news that filmmaker Benny Safdie would provide his voice.

However, Wario’s big-screen debut was likely meant to stay secret until the movie’s release. If the theater listing is accurate, this accidental reveal could disrupt Nintendo and Universal’s plans to keep the character under wraps. At the time of the leak, the plot description still included Wario’s name, suggesting the studios may not have noticed the spoiler yet.

More Mario characters joining the film

Wario and Bowser Jr. won’t be the only new characters making their cinematic debut. The film will also introduce Princess Rosalina, the guardian of the Lumas, voiced by Brie Larson.

Fans also recently got their first proper look at Yoshi, the green dinosaur who was teased in a mid-credits scene of The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

One notable absence

Unfortunately for fans of Donkey Kong, the character was missing from the cast list when the sequel’s title and release date were announced last September. That likely means he won’t appear in this new adventure.

While audiences wait for its premiere, excitement continues to build around The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. And for those looking even further ahead, another Nintendo adaptation — The Legend of Zelda Movie — is currently planned to arrive in theaters in 2027. 🎮🍿
