Philips just launched a new coffee maker with a ‘conversational’ virtual assistant to make sure your cappuccino is just right

If you want a coffee maker that can deliver café-quality drinks at home, the new Philips Café Aromis aims to do exactly that. This premium espresso machine offers a menu of 50 different drinks, including cold brew, and introduces a smart feature that Philips calls the Conversational Barista Assistant.

Users can access this assistant directly on the machine or through the Philips HomeID mobile app. By following the prompts on the screen, the system adjusts the machine’s internal brewing settings to match your taste preferences using your selected coffee beans — meaning you don’t need any barista skills to create customized drinks.

The machine also supports five individual user profiles, allowing multiple people in the same household to save their personal coffee preferences without affecting each other’s settings.

For those who want stronger coffee, the Café Aromis includes seven intensity levels, increasing the amount of coffee used in each drink for a richer flavor. Most bean-to-cup machines typically offer only two or three strength options, so this wider range could make a noticeable difference in taste.

Philips already has a strong reputation for producing high-quality espresso machines. Recently, the compact Philips Baristina impressed testers with its simple “one-swipe” brewing system, which makes brewing fresh beans nearly as convenient as using pods while producing far less waste.

The Café Aromis is currently available for pre-order in the United States for $1,699.99 (around £1,300 or AU$2,400). So far, Philips hasn’t confirmed when it will launch in other regions, but updates may follow once the company announces international availability.
