Just yesterday, we were discussing a major upgrade that now seems almost certain to arrive with the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. However, a different long-rumored feature is suddenly looking far less likely, as doubts grow over whether the Galaxy S26 series will support native magnetic wireless charging.

This feature—similar to Apple’s MagSafe system—would allow chargers and accessories to magnetically snap onto the back of the phone. But leaked images of an upcoming Samsung charger, believed to be designed for the Galaxy S26 lineup, suggest that built-in magnets may not be included after all.
Shared by SamMobile, the packaging shows a 25W Qi2 magnetic wireless charger. However, the fine print states: “For Galaxy phones, ensure you use this charger with a Qi2-ready case to enable charging.” That wording strongly implies the Galaxy S26 phones themselves won’t contain internal magnets, instead relying on magnetic cases to enable compatibility with Qi2 accessories.
If that’s the case, it would represent little change from the Galaxy S25 series, which also required magnetized cases. The key difference may be charging speed: the S25 lineup tops out at 15W wireless charging, so the move to 25W Qi2 would still be a meaningful upgrade for at least some Galaxy S26 models. Still, until Samsung makes things official, this should be taken with a healthy dose of skepticism—though prospects for native magnets don’t look great.

From chargers to cases
The charger leak isn’t the only Galaxy S26-related development. Well-known leaker Evan Blass has also shared renders of UAG cases, complete with phones inside them.
There aren’t many surprises here. The designs align with earlier leaks and look very similar to the Galaxy S25 series overall. The most noticeable change is on the back, where the camera lenses now sit within a raised camera block, rather than protruding individually.
As expected, the Galaxy S26 appears with three rear cameras, while the Galaxy S26 Ultra retains four, mirroring their predecessors. One render also shows the front of a device, featuring a centered punch-hole selfie camera.
Interestingly, the cases themselves include circular markings on the back, suggesting they contain built-in magnets—exactly what would be needed to work with the leaked Qi2 charger.
Samsung is reportedly set to unveil the Galaxy S26 series on February 25, at which point we should finally learn whether magnetic wireless charging is built into the phones—or left to cases once again.
